MONEY AND WEALTH
Shalom women of God. I am excited to meet you again on this website, celebrating the goodness of the Lord and pushing forward to know more from our heavenly Father’s mandate to us as women. I trust that this topic will be a blessing to you just as the others have been.
In my early years in Christ, I had many misconceptions. Some of which I have shared in previous articles. But ‘chiefest’ of all was the conception that money was not to be studied. I was convinced that any teaching that did not include the name of the Lord or of biblical knowledge was not worthy of studying. Perhaps there was a silver lining to this. It enabled me to read the Bible voraciously and other spirit-filled books. However, it skewed my thinking and I realized that I was suffering in major areas of my life like in my academics and finances. In short, I was so spiritually or heavenly minded that I was becoming of no earthly benefit. I prayed hard and long. I also practised several spiritual principles like tithing but the more I did, the less relieved I felt.
Then I began to read the Bible again and realized the subjects that I thought was unscriptural were really very important to the Lord. In fact, there are 2000 scriptures that are related to money and wealth. I realized that success is not a foreign word spiritually and that the Lord had a lot to say about it.
What even formed my sunesis – understanding – of this subject and its great importance to us women and to anyone who wants to do great things for God is this scripture below.
Luke 16:11
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Mammon means wealth. And the Lord is saying if you do not master wealth and become faithful in it, the true riches which are in Christ will not be committed to you. Having learnt this, I was bound on a quest to understand money and what faithfulness in it meant. Perhaps our low understanding of the Word of God maybe the fact that we have not mastered the wealth. Personally, I have realized that when I set my life in order, including my finances, I hear God clearer and prayer becomes effortless. There is no stress and so His voice is not clouded with the layers of worry and dissatisfaction.
I would like you to join me on this voyage of understanding wealth and money in the light of scriptures. You will not regret that you did. It’s my prayer that by the end of this expedition, you will be so relieved of the stresses related with money and wealth. And that by practising the principles we learn, we will open up our spirits for the true riches of Christ. Shalom. Meet you again during the voyage.
