WHY FAITH?
Shalom women of God. I am happy to meet with you on this platform again. Thanks for having me over. Well it’s time to feast on the word again and I believe that you will be blessed.
I observed that the 21st century woman is plagued from every side. No where in history (per my assessment) has a woman had to battle with the things we war with now. From juggling a career with marriage, coupled with the blessing yet great responsibility of children, to finding and defending one’s place in life to proving yourself to all and sundry as well as maintaining good relationships with friends and family while keeping your sanity in all these is no small joke.
I also realized that it’s much easier for other women than for those who have found their callings and mandates from God and are by default required to walk by the rule. I say this because it is easier to pass an exam if you set the questions and you mark the paper yourself than in the contrary. The pressures of fulfilling ones destiny can be even more overwhelming.
I was in this dilemma when I remembered a scripture in Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
This scripture jolted me out of the melancholy. Yes today’s woman may be faced with various challenges but she must know that nothing she faces is new. It has happened before and some people have overcome them. Yes great women like Sarah, Esther, Ruth, Mary the mother of Jesus all overcame. Not to forget the Suzanna Wesley’s, Madam Guyons and the likes who defied odds and fulfilled their destinies leaving indelible footprints in history. Wow. So victory can be certain. Then I became obsessed with this singular question, ‘How did they do it?’
Then I remembered another scripture in the book of Proverbs.
Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
That is to say for every problem identified, someone has overcome and set a landmark on how it can be overcome. Then I was led to read
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
11:2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Men have overcome since time immemorial by the system of faith nothing more than faith. It is faith that opens the door for exploits and paves the way for other elements of exploits to operate. Without faith, one cannot obtain a good report.
I’m excited about this journey to know what faith is and be empowered with it. Kindly join me on Monday as we explore further. Shalom and continue pressing on in God.
